Description:The Sherwood Group, a leading association management firm located in Deerfield, Ill., is currently interviewing account executive candidates. We are searching for a dynamic individual who will provide operational and strategic leadership for client societies representing social science fields, including the Association for Public Opinion Research. In this key position, you will report to client Boards of Directors and the company vice president. Sherwood staff and society elected and appointed leaders work together to create a community for success based on shared values and common goals.

Duties:Responsibilities include:

* Providing inspired guidance and counsel to the board of directors
* Managing a multidisciplinary staff team
* Managing current client programs and services
* Developing new programs and improving current programs to meet the needs of growing organizations
* Facilitating efficient communication among and between volunteer elected and appointed leaders, constituent groups and members.

Qualifications:Success in this position requires a positive, results-oriented manager with excellent follow-through and detail orientation; the ability to identify and manage resources required to provide client services; impeccable organizational and governance skills; strong and persuasive communication skills; the ability to build and manage a cohesive, customer-focused staff team; ability to understand and connect the needs of heterogeneous organizations, good technology skills; and an entrepreneurial streak. Experience with public policy or statistical organizations is an advantage.

* Candidates for this position will have 7-10 years experience as the executive director of a society or association or as a senior staff member/department head in a larger organization.
* You must be well versed in all areas of association management, with a successful track record in fundraising, building internal consensus and supporting external coalitions, public education and outreach programs.
* CAE preferred.
